“I began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life. He taught me that if you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it at full speed ahead. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it and above all become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good. Hot is no good either. White hot and passionate is the only thing to be.”
-Roald Dahl, My uncle Oswald-
This quote is about something I have realized too. It is important to be an enthusiast! In this first blog of the new year I want to share two things I am enthusiast about. Reason is I found a project which combined these two things! Later I will tell you more about that.
The first thing is dancing. I dance for quite some years now. I have trained in breaking, hiphop, house, and have now returned to hiphop again. It is a way of expressing myself, and it is an essential part of my life. There have been times I quit dancing, and so far that always have been the most depressing parts of my life. So therefore I always find my way back to dancing again.
Something else I really love is the life in cities. Being surrounded by a large variety of people, large buildings, large and little places, all kinds of shops, cafe’s, the history…it is what makes my fascination. I enjoy to explore cities in other countries, to learn about their history, to taste local dishes, to meet new people, to broaden my horizons. It is the mix of exploring and simply enjoying the daily life in cities what I enjoy most.
Last week I found out about a project in which an artist actually has combined these two passions! It is called The Ballerina Project, and it already exists for some years now. It consists of pictures and film of dancers in a city environment. You can still follow them via Facebook, or check out a couple of pictures via this link!
Now back to you. What are you enthusiast about? And are you giving this enough attention? If not, would it even be possible? I am planning to upload inspiring stories from different cities the upcoming time on this blog. As well as in Dutch as in English, since sharing and writing are also a couple of things I like a lot. Creating a multilingual blog is kind of an experiment of which I am curious to how it will work out! For now again a welcome to my blog, or a welcome again! I hope you will enjoy reading, and I hope to see you soon again!
